What do you know about the spread of disease in the global community?

I believe that there are many diseases that can be prevent by doing simple things. Unfortunately people do not do simple things such as washing hands before eating and after going to the bathroom. Not only it will make you sick but you can get others sick because of not doing simple things to prevent serious illnesses. AIDS is a unfortunate disease that can be prevented by using condoms. Majority of the people who do not use condoms are the young crowd and they should already know that it is vital to use condoms. It makes me mad that people do know about HIV and AIDS and they still do not use condoms. I understand that they if they are with one person and only do intercourse with one person but major of the people who have HIV do not know it until the get tested. Sars disease is also unfortunate virus that stared in Asia and it is wide spread. People think it is just a flu because it has the symptoms of a flu but it is deadly. That is why people need to take flu's more cautiously because it might not just be a flu. It also important to take medical shots if you are going to travel to another country so you won't pick up an "alien" virus or disease. Your body is not use to another country's envioronment so you are more likely to get sick than the people who live in that country. Sadly, virus like menagintis and sars disease just has symtoms of a flu but it is deadly. That is why people need to go the doctors regulary even if you have to go to the clinic if you do not have health insurance. I believe that everybody needs to take care of their heath so they do not have to worry about catching viruses or diseases that are deadly.

Blog 6 - How's yours semester going so far?

Mid semester has just past and I am trying to maintain a perfect studying schedule. My hardest task about this semester is the amount of studying I need to do. I cannot slack off in studying in my major classes, anatomy lecture and lab, or else I will not go into the nursing program. My main focus is going into the nursing program. If I stick to the same studying hours a week than I will pass my anatomy class with a good grade, therefore, I cannot procrastinate. I still need to work hard in my other classes because I cannot get below a B. The other classes I am worried about is religion and art. Religion, I currently have a C+ and I am not an artsy person so I am struggling through the art projects. I am still trying my hardest in the art projects because I want to get an A. I am only taking this class to get my AA or else I would not have taken this course. I am hopeful about Anatomy because my Lecture teacher says if I am doing the all the studying things I do such as read the book, outlines, and flashcards through out the semester than I will do fine but it is not easy to do for every chapter. It is hard but I just have to manage my time. Time management is helpful and it will help my do good in my classes. Hopefully, I will keep doing what I am doing and not slack off. I am trying my hardest and hopefully my hard work will pay off. Also, I try not to stress because that will not help me at all. I am a stressful person so I need to work on not stressing as much as I usually do. I am breaking out and always getting pimples and its to the point where I do not care because all I am focused on right now is getting into the nursing program.

Blog 5 - Alexandria House

I haven't been to the Alexandria House but I am excited to go. The reason why I signed up at the end of the semester, because there was not available spaces to go on Saturdays. The only days I can go to the Alexandria House on Saturdays so my only choice was to wait at the end of the semester. In class, the announcement was that not everybody who signed up to go to the Alexandria House last Saturday didn't go and I could have went if I knew there was space to go. I can't wait to teach the ESL class on Saturdays, because it will be my first time working with ESL students. It will also be interesting to see how well my teaching skills are. If there are adjustments to the semester schedule, I will move up my days to go on Saturdays instead of the end of the semester. I will work with Mary because I am carpooling with her in my car. It works out because not only she is in my class but she lives in the same dorm as me so it will be easier for us to meet up and I won't have to drop her off at another place. I also feel anxious, because it will be my first time going but I'm sure I will be comfortable after the first hour. I am glad that I am not going by myself or else I will feel more anxious and nervous. The staff will make the setting comfortable for me so I am not worried of not being a "bad" teacher. I can't wait to be a helpful hand at Alexandria House!
